The Nigerian Agip Oil Company and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited joint venture has distributed food and essential items to about 260 communities devastated by recent floods in four states of the Niger Delta region.
The joint venture said in a statement in Abuja on Monday that the benefiting communities are in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Imo States.
The statement quoted the the General Manager of the Port Harcourt District of the JV who led the delegation that visited the affected communities, most of whom are among the host communities of Ob/Ob Gas Plant.
During the presentation of the items, the statement said NAOC expressed their solidarity with the host communities, saying the gesture was to reinforce their belief in the importance and effectiveness of collaborative relationship between the two parties since 1962.
Similarly, the delegation remarked on the importance of a mutually beneficial partnership, particularly over the difficult period they are facing.
The communities of the area, represented by their traditional ruler, HRH Louis Ajie Eze Iyasira (Prime Minister of Ogba Land), who expressed appreciation to the JV for the timely support.
The NAOC JV shareholders are NNPC E&P Limited (NEPL), Eni’s subsidiary NAOC and Oando.
