NNPC, Akwa Ibom govt. seal deal to establish Ibom Marine Logistics Hub

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has sealed an agreement with the Akwa Ibom State government to establish Ibom Marine Logistics Solutions Hub Limited.

The company is a fully integrated, deepwater logistics shore base in the State.

The deal to execute the shareholder’s agreement of Ibom Solution Hub Ltd. was sealed on Saturday in Uyo between the Akwa Ibom state government represented by the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, and NNPC Limited represented by the Chairman of its Board of Director, Margery Chuba-Okadigbo.

The proposed logistics base to be sited on a 40 square kilometres space in Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area of the state is located within the already designated Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Akwa Ibom State.

The facility modeled to be an alternative to existing logistics bases in the country will offer offshore construction support to West & Central African regions.

In his remarks at the agreement signing ceremony, the state governor, Udom Emmanuel thanked the NNPC Limited and Ibom Solution Hub Limited for choosing to partner with Akwa Ibom State Government to establish the facility.

The governor reassured investors of the hospitality of Akwa Ibom State and solicited for more projects that would provide employment and development opportunities for indigenes of the State.

The Chairman of the NNPC Board, Margery Chuba-Okadigbo, who said the company was working with all relevant government agencies to deliver on the world class facility, invited more partners to collaborate and partner with the new NNPC, she described as Africa’s largest energy company, in order to secure its right to play in the continent’s largest market.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, who was represented by the Executive Vice President Upstream, Adokiye Tombomieye, described the project as a game changer, not just for the oil and gas industry, but also for the nation’s economy.

Ibom Solution Hub Limited is a fully Integrated, real deepwater logistics services base project that would offer offshore construction and logistics services to the Eastern flank of Nigeria, the West and Central African Regions.

The project is a partnership of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, and which owns 30 percent equity; Solutions Hub Ltd 50 percent, and Akwa Ibom State Government 20 percent.
