Sahara Group, Covenant University collaborate on human capital transformation

Sahara Group is  partnering with Covenant University on human capital transformation, the Energy and infrastructure Conglomerate announced on Wednesday. 

The spokesperson of the Group, Bethel Obioma said the partnership involves the drive to identify, access, groom and transform exceptional talents from the institution into outstanding global business leaders. 

Obioma said the partnership was a significant step towards enhancing Sahara Group’s commitment to supporting young African talents to compete internationally as “innovators birthing sustainable solutions to unfolding global challenges.”

Speaking during a meeting with the Management Team of the Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, the Group Head, Human Resources at Sahara Group, Ivie Imasogie-Adigun, explained that the collaboration between the energy conglomerate and Covenant University would focus on building a pipeline of talents that aligned with Sahara Group’s business goals. 

“Our data over the years indicate that Covenant University is among the top three universities where we get the best candidates. Working with Covenant presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with a world-class institution to attract, retain and develop the best talents for our businesses spread across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East,” she said.

The Vice Chancellor of Covenant University, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, who expressed excitement about the partnership, said the partnership would open more frontiers, expand the institution’s industry relations, and create more opportunities for graduates from Covenant University. 

“In the past years, we have produced the most employable graduates in Nigeria. We look forward to Sahara Group absorbing more Covenant graduates as it continues to record sterling achievements as a foremost energy company in Africa,” he said.

Emphasising Covenant University’s status as a leading institution in Nigeria, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olujide Adekeye said the institution was always delighted to partner with reputable organisations like the Sahara Group on various development initiatives. 

“Our graduates have been trained to be world-changers and this opportunity offered by Sahara Group would help them flourish and excel more,” he said.

Also speaking of the partnership, the Registrar, Covenant University, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, commended Sahara Group for choosing to work with Covenant University, adding that the partnership was a resounding “testament to the quality of education and training that Covenant University provides to its students.”

Describing interactions with Covenant University graduates as a “recruiter’s delight”, Head, Talent Acquisition, Sahara Group, Israel Oloyede, noted that the initiative with Covenant University would give Sahara Group access to “an incredible talent pool of graduates with diverse backgrounds, skills, and aspirations that will drive innovation and growth.”

An alumnus of Covenant University and a Sahara Group Graduate Management Trainee, Samuel Gwani,described the project as a “game-changer for Covenant University students,” noting that “Sahara Group will give you regional and global platforms that will ensure you make a difference in all you do. In Sahara Group, we call that being MAD.” 

Another Covenant University alumnus and Sahara Graduate Management Trainee, Tolulope Gbenro, also said, “the partnership would be a win-win situation for both brands and above all, provide a world of endless possibilities to Covenant University graduates who join the Sahara family.”
