Train 7 Project has won the “Gas Infrastructure Project of the year 2022” award for the Nigeria LNG Limited.
The award was presented at a special dinner in Abuja on Monday as part of the ongoing 2023 Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES).
Organisers said the company also won the “Local Content Company of the Year 2022” award.
Both awards were handed to the NLNG Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Philip Mshelbila, by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Gabriel Aduda, along with the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Simbi Wabote.
Speaking after receiving the awards on behalf of the company, Mshelbila said they were testaments to NLNG’s unwavering commitment to building human capital and local capacity. He said further that the awards affirm the Company’s belief in the immense potential of Nigerians.
“As we continue to drive growth and create opportunities for our nation, we remain steadfast in our resolve to empower local players, nurture talent, and foster innovation. Only by investing in building capacity in the country can we truly build a brighter and more sustainable future.
“By the award of Gas Infrastructure Project of the Year 2022 for Train 7 project, we are once again reminded of our duty to not only push the boundaries of what is possible but to do so in a manner that safeguards our environment and uplifts our communities,” he added.
He said the recognition fuels the Company’s determination to continue championing initiatives that contribute to Nigeria’s burgeoning economy and give Nigeria a competitive edge in the global energy landscape.
Train 7 is an expansion project by the Nigeria LNG under construction at the Nigeria LNG Terminal in Bonny Island, Nigeria to increase the six train production capacity from 22 million tons per annum to 30 million tons per annum.
Partners in the project include NNPC, which holds 49 percent stake on behalf of the Federal Government; Shell Petroleum Development Company (25.6 percent stake), Total (15 percent stake) and ENI (10.4 percent stake).
