The current review of the remuneration package for all political, judicial and public office holders in the country will be objective, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has assured.
The Commission, which said the review exercise would be concluded before the end of the present administration, assured that it would be fair in carrying out this constitutional mandate.
The Chairman of the Commission, Mohammed Bello Shehu, gave the assurance while receiving members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja.
He told his guests that RMAFC was committed to the review exercise by carrying out public hearings simultaneously in the six geo-political zones of the country.
The RMAFC Chairman thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting the Commission to carry out a holistic review exercise for the affected office holders.
He however expressed regrets about poor funding of the Commission considering its strategic constitutional mandate to the socio-economic development of the nation as a whole, promising to expedite action to conclude the review.
The president of the NBA, Yakubu Chinoko Maikyan, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) thanked the RMAFC Chairman for the Commission”s commitment, pledging the support of the NBA for the success of the exercise.
Bello Shehu clarified that though the last review was carried in 2008, the process of the current review exercise would determine whether the review will be upward or downwards.
