IPPIS update: Nigerian govt halts payment of salaries of over 300 civil servants

MEDIATRACNET

For failing to comply with the directive to update their official details on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), the Federal Government has stopped the payment of the salaries of 331 civil servants.
The Permanent Secretary, Career Management office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Mahmuda Mamman, who disclosed this in Abuja said the affected civil servants are drawn from various ministries, departments and agencies.
The circular suspending the payment of the workers was signed by Mamman on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan. It was addressed to all permanent secretaries of MDAs, Accountant General of the Federation and the Auditor-General of the Federation.
Part of the circular reads:
“The salaries of 331 federal civil servants have been suspended by the Federation Government on the IPPIS platform for their failure to carry out their online records update of the Human Resource Module of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
“And also, who failed to participate in the physical verification exercise. “This emerged from a circular ref: HCSF/CSO/HRM/T/41 issued on 9th June, 2021 signed on behalf of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan by the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Mahmuda Mamman.”
Mamman said the decision to suspend the payment of the workers’ salaries was in spite of all the various circulars issued requesting employees of MDAs to carry out an online records update on the IPPIS verification portal.
He said some employees in the core MDAs failed to comply with the directives.
“As a result of this, they could not also participate in the physical verification exercise carried out between June 2018 and December 2020, as their records were not found on the verification portal,” the circular stated.
The Human Resources (HR) Module of IPPIS records update exercise was initiated to remove ghost workers from the payroll of the Federal Government, to cut down government expenditure as well as ensure credible personnel service records.
Mamman  implored concerned officers to report to the office of the Director, IPPIS-SW in the office of the HOCSF for further information and clarification.
