Nigerians can only have stable, affordable and constant electricity supply if operators ans policy makers in the power sector cooperate, interact, collaborate and synergize regularly, the newly appointed Minister of Power, Abubaker Aliyu has said.

The Minister was speaking in Abuja in separate meetings with the electricity generation companies(GENCOs) and their distribution companies (DISCos) counterparts on Thursday.

The Minister who was meeting thess operators for the first time since his assumption of office underscored the importance of synergy, collaboration and interaction among interest groups and operators in the power sector.

Apart from cooperation and interactions among operators, he said he would also encourage similar relationship even more with the Ministry at the policy making level.

“These collaborations, cooperation, inteaction and synergy is very crucial and important, because Nigerians
deserve to get stable, affordable and constant electricity supply,” he said during the meetings held in his office.

Aliyu said although he was appointed and sent to the ministry to give policy direction and execute the Federal Government mandate (Reforms) in the power sector, it was impossible to expect that he was going to do it all alone.

Rather, he said every stakeholder in
the power sector would be expected to join hands together, to execute this mandate.

“The work in the power sector is a value chain. The whole value chain
should not be broken at any point by the refusal of one party to contribute its quota.

“That is why it is important for all of us, operators and policy makers, to come together, interact inter-depend and cooperate with one another. If we do, the result would be great,” the Minister said.

The Minster used the occasion to extend his hands of fellowship to the stakeholders in the power sector, urging them to give back to the society.

He assured that his office would always be open for any useful advice capable of helping move the power sector forward.

The represents of the DISCos and GENCOs who attended the meeting, pledged their loyalty and readiness
to work with the Minister to achieve the desired reform goals in the power
