A new substantive Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has been named by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He is Semiu Adeyemi Adeniran. A statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Sufuyan Ojeifo, on Friday said the appointment took immediate effect.
The statement said Adeniran would succeed the former Statistician-General of the Federation, Simon Harry, who died in office on April 13, 2022.
Adeniran, a professional statistician of repute with bias for Demography and Social Statistics, has over three decades of statistical hands-on experience from various local and international institutions.
Until his appointment, Adeniran was the Director of Demographic and Household Statistics at the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Headquarters, Abuja.
