NAICOM confers the Royal Ambassador for Insurance honour on Emir
Taking insurance policy, especially Takaful, against loss of life and property does not conflict with any religious belief of Nigerians, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has said.
Speaking in his palace when the management of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) led by the Commissioner for Insurance, Olorundare Sunday Thomas, visited him in Kano, the Royal father urged Nigerians to embrace insurance as a way of relieving loss, especially in businesses and property loss.
The respected traditional ruler also urged the Commission to ensure that insurance obligations were adequately met by insurers to instill confidence and remove fear from the mind of the people about insurance.
He commended the leadership of the Commission for the giant strides it has made in a bid to create awareness towards developing the Nigerian insurance market.
The Emir reaffirmed his conviction in insurance as an important aspect of human life, saying extensive research has shown that insurance was not conflicting with religious belief, especially with the coming of Takaful insurance.
He thanked the Commission for the visit and promised to support efforts to deepen insurance penetration in the country.
As a demonstration of his total conviction about insurance benefits, the Emir gave the assurance that he would consider the invitation by the Commission to personally participate in the forthcoming National Insurance Conference being planned for the Commission next month.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Insurance thanked the Royal father for the warm reception accorded his team.
The Commissioner said he was particularly excited about the kind words expressed by the Emir about the work NAICOM is doing to promote insurance in Nigeria, adding that his acceptance to personally attend the forthcoming National Insurance Conference scheduled for October 22 – 24, 2023, in Abuja was one of the highest validation of the work the Commission was doing.
The Commission thereafter named the Emir Aminu Ado Bayero as Royal Ambassador for Insurance in the country and commended his style of leadership since his takeover of the throne.
