Governors of the 36 states of the Federation have been invited to their last meeting for 2021, the Director General of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Asishana Bayo Okauru, has announced.
Okauru made the announcement through a statement by the spokesperson of the Forum, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, on Monday in Abuja.
Although Barkindo said the exact details about the agenda of the meeting are unknown, he said the governors are expected to use the opportunity of the meeting to stock of their activities by reviewing their programmes and activities for the outgoing year and attempt to structure an agenda for the new year.
The meeting, which is the 13th edition for 2021 and the 36th teleconference meeting of the governors since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, is expected to hold at the NGF Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
Barkindo quoted Okauru as saying the governors can join the meeting from 1pm ahead of the actual commencement of the meeting at 2pm.
“Being their last meeting for the year, the governors will be expected to look at their activities for the year and sign-post where to pick up from as soon as they resume in January 2022.
“Specifically, the governors deliberations will centre around the six core mandate areas of the Forum, including agriculture,
education, the economy, security, health and infrastructure and how to further enhance the governance mechanism in the country and serve Nigerians better,” Okauru is quoted to have said.
