Nigeria is scheduled to join other countries, national governments, multilateral organizations, foundations, non-governmental organizations and businesses at the World Expo and International Investment Exhibitions to showcase their opportunities and potentials.
The global event, titled “Expo 2020 Dubai”, which holds every five years, to find solutions to pressing challenges to the world economy, is hosted by Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Originally scheduled for October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, but postponed due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, is currently holding from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre.
Under the theme, “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, Expo 2020 Dubai provides a platform for participants to foster creativity, innovation and proffer solutions to universal problems.
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), which is leading the Nigerian delegation to the event said on Tuesday in Abuja that over 25 million visitors from 192 countries are expected in Dubai during the period of the Expo.
As part of the event, the Director Investment Promotion, NIPC, Adeshina Emmanuel, said the Commission would host the Nigerian Trade and Investment Forum in Dubai.
The Forum, Emmanuel said, would take advantage of the massive gathering of people from around the world, to attract investment into several sectors of the Nigerian economy, particularly agriculture, oil & gas, power, transportation, technology and manufacturing, education, health, construction, among others.
He said the Forum, themed “Unveiling Investment Opportunities in Nigeria” would hold between December 4 and 6, 2021 in the Dubai Exhibition Centre.
Organized on behalf of the Nigerian government by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (through NIPC) in collaboration with and Nigerian Arabian Chamber of Commerce (NAGCC), Emmanuel said the objectives include projecting Nigeria’s positive image as investors’ haven.
Other objectives include presenting investment opportunities in Nigeria to global investors to attract them to invest in Nigeria; presenting opportunity to global investors to share their experience about the Nigerian business environment, in a way that would lead to an improvement in the environment and also attract other investors.
Also, the Forum would give the government an opportunity to inform the global investors about the efforts being made and successes recorded in its efforts at improving the investment environment.
