The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) says it recorded significant successes in the execution of its mandate during the tenure of its immediate past Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir.
The agency said Tahir, whose tenure came to an end on December 31, 2025, recorded notable strides in several aspects of its mandate, particularly in the areas of institutional strengthening, improved regulatory enforcement, enhanced operational efficiency, and renewed stakeholder confidence.
Besides, NEMSA said during Tahir’s tenure, its mandate of ensuring safety, quality, and compliance within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) received adequate attention.
“Under his leadership, the Agency recorded measurable progress in inspection, testing, certification, automation of service delivery processes, and strategic collaborations with key sector stakeholders,” NEMSA said in a statement on Monday by its Head Communications & Protocol, Ama Umoren.
Mrs Umoren said in compliance with the Circular with Ref. No. SGF/OP//I/S.3/T/39 dated 28th August, 2019 from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on the End-of-Tenure Processes and Succession Guidelines for Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies, Engr. Tahir formally handed over the affairs of the Agency to the most senior Executive Director, Corporate Services, Utsu P. Ashibel.
She said the acting head would act in that capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.
The handover, she said, was conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the SGF circular, which required outgoing Chief Executive Officers to hand over to the next most senior officer of the establishment to ensure continuity, stability, and adherence to due process in public service administration.
“NEMSA reassures stakeholders and the public that the Agency remains fully operational and steadfast in the delivery of its statutory responsibilities, with no disruption to its regulatory, inspection, certification, and safety oversight functions,” she said.
While commending the Management and staff of NEMSA for their dedication to duty, the agency applauded the former MD/CEO for his dedicated service and leadership, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to sustaining the reforms and progress achieved during his tenure.
