Activities to mark the 32nd Annual Meetings of Afreximbank open this morning in Abuja with over 6000 delegates from within and outside Africa participating.
At the pre-event media briefing at the new regional headquarters of the bank in Abuja on Tuesday, the Director of Communications and Events, Mrs Anne Ezeh, said discussions at the meeting would dwell on the theme: “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience.”
Eze said the theme of the meeting is speaking to the remarkable journey of Afreximbank which took off with less than $4billion, more than 32 years with an uncertain future, to emerge as one of Africa’s most consequential multilateral financial institutions with over $40billion capital base.
She said the meeting, to be declared open by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kassim Shettima, is expected to be the last one for the bank’s outgoing President and Chairman of the Board of
Directors, Prof. Benedict Oramah, would provide the opportunity for participants to review the interesting journey and the contributions of the bank to national development in Africa and beyond.
Apart from key business entrepreneurs, like the Founder of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, that are expected to grace the meeting, Eze said several trade finance and investment deals would be sealed by different groups in the course of the meeting, while a new Board would emerge at the end of a meeting on Saturday.
