To encourage taxpayers to embrace voluntary tax compliance, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has introduced “Self-Service Stations” to provide necessay assistance.
The newly established tax stations would assist taxpayers to file their tax returns, pay taxes, apply for and validate Tax Clearance Certificates, among other services.
The service would be handled by the taxpayers themselves on online platforms located in FIRS tax offices across the country.
The spokesperson of FIRS,Johannes Wojuola, said the initiative was aimed at supporting taxpayers in the optimised use of the TaxPro Max solution introduced last year by tax agency to facilitate a hassle-free tax returns filings by individuals and organizations.
“As part of the Service’s effort to enhance voluntary tax compliance, the Self-Service Stations will, among other things, provide taxpayers the opportunity to carry out the following services online while in the Tax Office: Filing tax returns; Paying taxes; Applying for and validate TCCs; Generating receipts and credit notes,” Wojuola said.
To make the exercise more convenient for the taxpayers, he said the Self-Service Stations have designated officers readily available to assist taxpayers with any technical difficulty or concerns that may arise.
The Service enjoined taxpayers to take advantage of the Self-Service Stations in fulfilling their tax obligations.
In a notification to the general public on the new service, the FIRS
said it would enhance voluntary tax compliance through online service.
The Service said Taxpayers may also call the Contact Centre Numbers: 09074444441, 09074444442, 09072111111, 09073777777 for enquiries and support as the need arises.
