The Board of Directors of the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) on Friday named a new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company.
He is Philip Mshelbila, who would succeed the outgoing Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Tony Attah.
Attah is scheduled to return to his parent company, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria on August 30, 2021 at the expiration of his five-year tenure at the helm of affairs of the company.
Attah was appointed Chief Executive Officer by the NLNG Board in July 2016.
Mshelbila’s appointment was approved by the Board at its last meeting on Friday.
The new MD/CEO who is rounding-off his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Atlantic LNG Company of Trinidad & Tobago, would be taking over from E Attah on August 31, 2021.
NLNG is an incorporated Joint-Venture owned by four Shareholders, namely, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (49%), Shell Gas B.V. (25.6%), Total Gaz Electricite Holdings France (15%), and Eni International N.A. N.V. S.àr.l (10.4%).
Philip Mshelbila – A profile
Mshelbila is currently the CEO for Atlantic LNG Company of Tinidad & Tobago.
Prior to appointment, Mshelbila was the General Manager, Gas for Shell Nigeria and a director of the SPDC. Prior to that appointment, he held the positions of Regional Communications Manager for Shell in West Africa and General Manager for Sustainable Development and Community Relations for Shell Nigeria.
Also, he was the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Limited and Crisis Chief of Staff for Shell Nigeria.
Over the course of his 25 year career with Shell, Mshelbila has held various roles in the company, including Integration/Planning and Project Development Manager for Gas & Power, Commercial Manager, Private Assistant to the Chief Executive of Royal Dutch Shell in The Netherlands, Regional (Business) Adviser for Africa – Shell International and Regional Health Manager for Africa overseeing 36 countries.
Before joining Shell, Mshelbila worked with the NNPC and National Oil & Chemical Marketing Company Plc (NOLCHEM).
Mshelbila has a degree in Human Medicine (MBBS), postgraduate qualification in Occupational & Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, Spain.
